SUMMARY:5th ECMWF-ESA Machine Learning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ECMWF and ESA are organising the fifth workshop on Machine Learning for Earth Observation and Prediction\, which will be held from 13-17 April 2026 in Bologna\, Italy. \nMachine Learning (ML) is increasingly being used to observe and predict how the Earth system behaves. The scale\, complexity and sophistication of these ML technologies have also increased considerably over the last few years. \nThe in-person meeting will provide an up-to-date snapshot of the state of the art in this rapidly evolving field. It will also be a forum of discussion and interaction among scientists and practitioners about the current opportunities and challenges presented by the use of ML technologies for Earth system observation and prediction. \nThe workshop will discuss hybrid ML-physics based systems and end-to-end ML approaches for data assimilation and weather and climate prediction. It will explore new ways to apply ML to Earth system observations and examine how high performance and emerging computing technologies can accelerate these applications. Participants will also look at the role of ML in building digital twins of the Earth system and share strategies to make these models more accurate and efficient. \nRegistration for in person participation closes on 31 January. For submission details or to register for the event\, please visit the official website here: \n\nVisit event website

SUMMARY:DestinE Co-Design Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This 1.5 day co-design workshop will take place on 8 and 9 June. It will take place before the 5th DestinE User Exchange\, the central user engagement event of the DestinE initiative\, led by the European Commission (DG CNECT). It will bring together developers for hands-on exploration of how DestinE can be applied across different impact sectors. Deep-dive sessions within the workshop will focus on selected topics of interest for developers and users allowing to work directly with several components of the DestinE system – the Digital Twins\, the Digital Twin Engine\, the Data Lake (DEDL)\, and the DestinE Service Platform (DESP) – supported by experts from the three entrusted entities ECMWF\, ESA\, EUMETSAT and their partners. \nMore Information & Registration \nAttendance\nPlaces are limited. If you wish to attend\, please register now. \nThe registration deadline is 26 May 2026. \nPlease note that on 8 June the event will take place at theRoyal Meteorological Institute of Belgium\, while on 9 June\, the 5th User eXchange will start after the co-design workshop and will take place at the same venue (Maison de la Poste\, Tour & Taxis).

SUMMARY:Engaging users with DestinE’s energy research - Public Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will take place on 9 June\, 9:00 – 12:00 CET. It will take place before the 5th DestinE User Exchange\, the central user engagement event of the DestinE initiative\, led by the European Commission (DG CNECT). \nInterested stakeholders from industry\, research\, policy and other sectors are invited to a public workshop that explores concrete avenues for DestinE’s contribution to a sustainable and resilient European energy system on a technical level. In small groups\, participants will have the opportunity to dive deep into the various topics of DestinE’s energy applications\, identifying how to support industry and other stakeholder’s pro-active contribution to designing and operating the future European energy system. \nMore Information & Registration \nAttendance\nThis workshop complements a dedicated session on energy during the 5th DestinE User eXchange event in Brussels on 10 June (14:05 – 15:05 CET). Participants of this public workshop must register for the User eXchange in due time to enter the venue.
