SUMMARY:ESA Digital Twin Earth Components: Open Science Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The ESA Digital Twin Earth Components: Open Science Meeting will take place at ESA ESRIN\, between 2 and 4 February 2026. \nThere is an undeniable urgency to act on the unprecedented ‘triple crisis’ of climate change\, biodiversity loss and pollution. Addressing these challenges calls for more advanced and integrated ways to observe\, model\, and forecast Earth’s systems – and digital twins have become a central part of this evolution. \nWithin this landscape\, the ESA Digital Twin Earth (DTE) programme focuses on strengthening the role of Earth observation data and satellite capabilities in the development of digital twin ecosystems. \nThis upcoming meeting will serve as a networking opportunity and invitation for scientists\, research organisations\, policymakers\, innovators and digital twin projects. Attendees will share their thoughts and help shape the future use of Earth observation in digital twins across Europe. \nThe developers of the Destination Earth (DestinE) Platform will also take part in the event. They will host a presentation on innovation and collaboration and a session on how service providers can onboard their services onto the DestinE Platform. \nFor event and registration details\, visit: ESA Digital Twin Earth Components: Open Science Meeting

SUMMARY:Destination Earth's next chapter: what's in store for the EO community?
DESCRIPTION:“Destination Earth’s next chapter: what’s in store for the EO community?” is an online EOcafe webinar dedicated to the next steps of Destination Earth (DestinE). \nLed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks\, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) and implemented by European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)\, European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and European Space Agency (ESA)\, the first phase (launched in December 2021) established the core components: the Climate Change Adaptation and Weather-Induced Extremes Digital Twins\, the Digital Twin Engine\, the Data Lake and the DestinE Platform. \nThe second phase\, starting in June 2024\, focused on operationalisation and user uptake\, with over 6\,000 registered users\, more than 30 services available\, and an increased integration of AI and machine learning across the system. \nIn this EOcafe session\, hosted by Emmanuel Pajot\, Secretary General of European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC)\, Irina Sandu and Charalampos Tsitlakidis will discuss the main achievements of the first two phases\, the strategic priorities for Phase Three and the opportunities for the Earth observation industry\, including how companies can get involved. \nThe webinar is open to all. Registration is free but compulsory. This is a fully virtual event. \nEOcafe is part of EARSC’s monthly series of informal yet high-level discussions\, providing timely and practical insights on key developments in the EO sector. \nRegister now!
