EUMETSAT Privacy Statement for Processing of Personal Data (Virtual Events)

Please read the following carefully to understand how EUMETSAT treats personal data received within the scope of registration for the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025.

EUMETSAT is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy while all the while carrying out its obligations arising from the organisation of the DEDL Webinars.

By submitting your personal data, you agree to have your personal data collected and further processed as described for the purposes detailed below, allowing EUMETSAT and co-organisers to the DestinE Data Lake webinars 2025 meeting – including but not limited to the CloudFerro (pgrzybowski@cloudferro.com) organisers – to contact you as required for the organisation and administration of DestinE Data Lake webinars.

How does EUMETSAT protect and safeguard your personal data?

All personal data is processed pursuant to EUMETSAT’s Personal Data Protection Policy and only by the designated organising team.

Personal data is stored on servers that are compatible with the standards outlined in EUMETSAT’s Risk and Information Security Management Policy. Unless indicated otherwise in this Privacy Statement, your personal data is stored on servers located in the EEA.

Personal data shall be retained for a maximum period of 2 years after the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025.

Will my personal data be disclosed to third parties?

EUMETSAT shall only share your personal data with third parties for purposes pertaining to the organisation of the DestinE Data Lake webinars 2025 and provided such third parties have comparable safeguards for the protection of personal data in place.

The DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 shall be hosted on Trust-IT’s videoconferencing solution with Zoom on stand-by as a back-up solution. To participate in the meetings, you will be required to enter your email address and name. This allows EUMETSAT to verify your identity and applicable access rights. For the purposes of keeping a record of the individual meetings, EUMETSAT shall use its own recording software as well as the integrated recoding function in Webex, and if applicable, in Zoom. To ensure that every participant can actively engage in the meetings, EUMETSAT shall also be using the conferencing tool Sli.do. The aforementioned third party services may gather additional personal data on participants, such as online identifiers (e.g. IP addresses). EUMETSAT, however, is only responsible for the activities of a third party, provided it has passed on personal data with an explicit request for processing.

Your basic contact details (title, family name, first name, name of the sending organisation, email address) will be published on an attendee list. This list shall be available to all DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 participants. Given the virtual nature of the meetings, disclosure of this information allows for adequate visibility of all participants. It facilitates online networking and makes it possible for participants to arrange side meetings. If you do not wish to be included on the attendee list, please contact danaele.puechmaille@eumetsat.int.

Will the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 be recorded?

The all DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025, will be recorded and individual sessions livestreamed.

By joining all DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 you agree to be recorded and that EUMETSAT may use your image, voice, and name in connection with the recording for promotional and other legitimate purposes.                             

If you choose turn off your camera and mute your audio, please be aware that your name will still appear in the recordings.                      

Will personal data be processed beyond the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025?

EUMETSAT shall use your data to send you emails regarding similar events, which EUMETSAT intends to host in future. You can exercise your right to prevent processing of this nature by contacting the organising team (danaele.puechmaille@eumetsat.int), who shall take you off the distribution list.

How can I have my personal data deleted, corrected or object to its further processing? 

In accordance with EUMETSAT’s Personal Data Protection Policy, you are entitled to invoke the right of access, correction and deletion of your personal data or object to the processing of personal data.

Requests of this nature shall be submitted to the EUMETSAT DPO, by sending an email to dataprotectionofficer@eumetsat.int, keeping the organising team in copy (danaele.puechmaille@eumetsat.int).

After due consideration, the DPO shall communicate to what extent your request can be satisfied and shall provide clear reasons for either granting or refusing it. If you request the deletion of your personal data before the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 takes place, you acknowledge and accept that your registration cannot be processed and participation in the DestinE Data Lake Webinars 2025 shall bedenied.

Can I seek legal recourse or submit a complaint in case of a data protection incident?

Should you become aware of a data protection incident, you are kindly invited to contact the EUMETSAT DPO by sending an email to dataprotectionofficer@eumetsat.int.

In case you wish to submit a complaint, you are required to comply with the Rules of Procedure of Personal Data Protection Complaints and Appeals as set forth in the Annex of EUMETSAT’s Personal Data Protection Policy.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved at the level of the Director-General, you have the right to lodge an appeal with the EUMETSAT Personal Data Protection Supervisory Authority. The EUMETSAT Personal Data Protection Supervisory Authority is fully independent in the exercise of its duties, and replaces oversight by any national/European data protection authorities.
