AI Ethics

Exploring an Ethics Framework for AI in Weather and Climate Predictions” is a virtual seminar on the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in weather and climate prediction, taking place online via Zoom on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00 CET.

As AI is rapidly reshaping weather and climate forecasting, this seminar will shine a spotlight on the ethical questions that come with these powerful new approaches. Drawing on experiences from the European Union’s Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative, the event will highlight ongoing efforts to define clear, responsible and value-driven frameworks for the use of AI beyond traditional physical models.

The session will feature expert presentations and interactive discussions on emerging ideas and draft best-practice guidelines, with a strong focus on AI literacy and responsible innovation. Participants are encouraged to share feedback and help shape the future of ethical AI in weather and climate science. A detailed agenda and list of speakers will be shared soon. The webinar will be recorded.
