CIMNE Coffee Talk: “Destination Earth, an EU initiative full of opportunities”

Dr. Pere-Andreu Ubach, Research Engineer at CIMNE’s Structural Mechanics group, presented the progress of DestinE, specifically providing an a overview of the role of the three entities, ESA, EUMETSAT & ECMWFEuropean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts More, responsible for the development of the system and the core components, including the Digital Twins and the Data Lake.

Míriam Méndez, Research Engineer at the Building, Energy, and Environment (BEEGroup) innovation unit at CIMNE, explored how DestinE enabled her team to combine multiple data sources to train a Machine-Learning model to better understand energy distribution and predict energy consumption in Catalonia.
