EGI 2025

June 5 @ 9:00 am - 10:45 am CEST

timelapse 2 minutes

As part of the  session Digital Twins in Science and the Data & Compute Continuum, Thomas Geenen (ECMWF) will present on the DestinE ecosystem, focusing on its interoperability and its support to the scientific community. This presentation will highlight how DestinE contributes to advancing data-driven science and enabling large-scale digital twin applications across Europe.

Digital Twins in Science and the Data & Compute Continuum: Achievements of the InterTwin Project will be featured in a dedicated conference session on Thursday, June 5, taking place in the Auditorium (Paraninfo – Stables) from 09:00 to 10:45.

This session will showcase the key achievements of the InterTwin project, which is developing a Digital Twin Engine to support the next generation of digital twins for science. The project is fostering interdisciplinary collaboration by co-designing digital twin prototypes across domains such as climate, energy, and environmental research.

In the session “Digital Twins in Science and the Data & Compute Continuum,” experts from EGI, CSIC, ECMWF, EODC, LNEC, and SPECTRUM will explore how the InterTwin framework can be integrated into Research Infrastructures and international scientific initiatives. The session will present both technical and scientific outcomes, including practical examples of coastal digital twins and thematic use cases.

The session will conclude with a discussion on the future of digital twin adoption in science, and how projects like InterTwin and DestinE are shaping this rapidly evolving landscape.
