Register to attend the 3rd Destination Earth (DestinE) User eXchange, being held in Darmstadt, Germany, on 15 and 16 October 2024.

The DestinE User eXchange events are targeted for research centres, universities, industry, public institutions from the science and development community and policy domain, as well as partners, potential partners, contractors, stakeholders, Commission members, and DestinE governance bodies.

This third User eXchange aims to build on the momentum and outcomes of the second edition which took place in Bonn last November, offering a platform for scientific community members, as well as public and private entities to build partnerships and learn the potential benefits from using DestinE services.

Programme Details

The programme agenda is designed to be both detailed and exploratory, with insights from institutions engaged in DestinE and interaction among participants, providing a foundation of knowledge as well as practical learning experiences along the way.

Day 1 (15 October)

High-level speakers from the three Entrusted Entities co-organising the event — hosts European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), the European Space Agency (ESA), and European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT)—and the European Commission, will introduce Destination Earth in the opening session, setting the scene for a day of discussions and updates on key developments about the implementation of DestinE.

Following this session, the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin (Climate DT) and the Weather-Induced Extremes Digital DT (Extremes DT) will be presented to participants alongside use case examples to showcase the far-reaching capabilities of these technologies, as well as a limited-capacity workshop to gather user feedback. The day will conclude with live demonstrations of the Digital Twins and how they interact with each other, followed by a poster session to reinforce the technical applications of these models in DestinE.

Day 2 (16 October)

The second and final day of the event will begin with a session on the DestinE Platform, the entry point for accessing and using DestinE services. Participants receive an overview of DestinE Data Lake Edge Services and insight into the DestinE Data Portfolio. Some of the talks will expand on visualisation tools, accessible from the DestinE platform, and how AI/ ML can complement our work within DestinE programmes.
