DestinE. Configurable Regional AI Modelling Capability
ECMWFEuropean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts More launches new Destination Earth tender for AI-based regional weather modelling
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWFEuropean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts More) has published a new call for tenders under the Destination Earth initiative.
The call, open until 16 March, aims to develop advanced high-resolution regional weather modelling capabilities based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, with a specific focus on the prediction of extreme weather events in Europe. In particular, ECMWFEuropean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts More is seeking candidates to develop a probabilistic, high-resolution, regional data-driven modelling capability that can be flexibly configured for European domains.
The contract is part of Phase 3 of Destination Earth, which will run from June 2026 to June 2028. During this phase, ECMWFEuropean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts More and its partners will focus on upgrading digital Earth system models and integrating them with open-source AI solutions, further strengthening Europe’s capacity to anticipate and respond to climate and weather risks.
