Save the date: 4th DestinE User eXchange
We are happy to announce that the 4th Destination Earth (DestinE) User eXchange will take place in Vienna, Austria, on 25 and 26 June 2025.
The DestinE User eXchange events provide an opportunity for users to learn about DestinE’s progress. From experienced academic data users to developers and policymakers, the User eXchanges are designed to foster dialogue and networking. The fourth in a series of engaging and dynamic events, the next DestinE User eXchange will bring together users, service providers and the DestinE team to ensure that the platform delivers applications and services that meet diverse needs.
Programme details
This edition will be held during ESA’s Living Planet Symposium (LPS) at the same venue. Held every three years, the LPS is among the world’s leading events on Earth observation (EO). The 2025 symposium will emphasise transitioning from ‘observation to climate action and sustainability for Earth’, reflecting the urgency of the climate crisis – a focus that aligns with the goals of DestinE.
DestinE’s User eXchange will be an independent event within the LPS and will run in six ‘insight sessions’ over the two days with a focus on the users’ perspective. Presentations from ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, and the European Commission will highlight progress and share perspectives on the program’s future. Additional presentations will offer insights into DestinE’s development and benefits for users and service providers. Participants can also engage in hands-on training sessions to gain practical experience with DestinE’s tools and services.
In addition, the main LPS event will host four sessions dedicated to DestinE and the Digital Twin Earth with more technical details. Attendees at the User eXchange will have the chance not only to network and connect directly with other DestinE stakeholders but also to network with the wider Earth science community at one of the EO calendar’s signature gatherings.
The 4th DestinE User eXchange is an ideal forum for idea sharing, collaboration and the advancement of the European Commission’s ambitious DestinE initiative, particularly given its setting within the rich and diverse environment of LPS.
Due to capacity constraints, only a limited number of participants can attend in person, so we encourage early registration, which we will open next month. For those unable to attend in person, there will be an option to register and participate remotely.
